NPR is the first major news organization to stop using Twitter.
NPR will no longer use Twitter, the company announced Wednesday, after the social media platform labeled the news organization “state affiliated media” before changing it to “government-funded media,” though less than one percent of its budget comes from federal funding.
NPR’s statement goes on to say that Twitter, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is “falsely implying” the news organization is not editorially independent by labeling it state-affiliated, a label used for propaganda outlets in Russia and China.This is a developing story and Forbes will continue to update it.
