UPDATE: A police-involved shooting in Brooklyn is under investigation. The incident happened after police said a driver used his car to hit an officer in Williamsburg, ThaliaPerezTV reported Saturday.

The incident happened after police said a driver used his car to hit an officer in , the driver is recovering in the hospital in stable condition.

The shooting happened at the intersection of Meeker and Vandervort after police approached an SUV that appeared to have been in an accident with two other cars. They asked the driver and his passengers to exit the vehicle. They say after about a minute the driver instead hit the gas to flee and struck an officer with his car.

"The white car decides to flee, striking one of our officers, who subsequently discharged his firearm three times into that vehicle. About 20 minutes after, a male, 21, arrives at Wyckoff Hospital with one gunshot wound to his chest. We believe, at the time, he is the driver of that white vehicle," NYPD Deputy Chief John Chell said.

Police say just before the shooting they responded to a 911 call of shots fired nearby at the intersection of Broadway and Lorimer. When they arrived at the scene, they say the three cars were speeding through a red light.Again, the suspect is in stable condition recovering from a gunshot wound to the torso and police are still looking for the vehicle and additional suspects.
