The United States Golf Association announced that it was awarding a pair of future U.S. Open championships to Oakland Hills, the storied Detroit-area course whose 100-year-old clubhouse was ravaged earlier this year by a massive fire.
The club had already announced that it would build a replica of the clubhouse, which oversaw six men’s U.S. Opens, three PGA championships and the 2004 Ryder Cup.
