A person was hospitalized after suffering more than one gunshot wound in an encounter Wednesday morning with an off-duty Oakland police officer in a West Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.
Officer Kim Armstead, a spokeswoman for the department, did not explicitly state the the officer shot the person, saying only that it was an “officer-involved shooting.” Asked if the officer and the suspect had exchanged gunfire, she declined to answer, citing the ongoing investigation.
Soon after officers responded and spoke to the officer, who was not injured. A search of the area yielded a loaded firearm. Shortly after that, a person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds arrived at an area hospital. That person was later listed in stable condition, Armstead said.

Person of interest identified in unprovoked NYC subway shooting: SourcesNEW YORK — Police have identified a person in connection with the unprovoked fatal shooting of 48-year-old Daniel Enriquez on a Q train in New York City on Sunday, according to police sources.
