The 46-year-old man who was shot Tuesday morning at the Kume Spa in Oakland’s Lake Merritt area remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.

Tuesday morning and fire at other employees before inflicting a fatal wound on herself is still under investigation by police, according to authorities. Police have not released the name of the 49-year-old woman, a Berkeley resident. The 46-year-old man who was shot remains hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said Wednesday.
The woman, who had worked at the Kume Spa, 614 Grand Ave., entered the spa about 10 a.m. and then moments later began shooting. Authorities said they believe the man who was wounded was the first person the woman shot at. Some other employees present were shot at but not hit before the woman shot herself, authorities said.
An employee was able to call police while the shooting was happening and dozens of officers sped to the scene, which is less than two blocks from Lake Merritt. Officers entered the spa, found the wounded man and woman and escorted employees outside. Both gunshot victims were taken to a local hospital where the woman later died.Investigators have not yet been able to determine why the woman opened fire or how well she knew the man who was shot.
