Oceanside man accused of threatening Sen. Chuck Schumer via voicemail [Breaking]

Federal prosecutors in San Diego have charged an Oceanside man they say threatened to kill Sen. Chuck Schumer in a profanity- and bigotry-laced voicemail message left at the New York Democrat’s Washington, D.C., office last month.

McGuire faces a sole charge of issuing the threats, which can carry a sentence of up to five years in prison. He has been arrested and, as of Wednesday, remained in custody at the federal jail in downtown San Diego. He has a detention hearing set for Friday. In a sworn affidavit, an FBI agent said the caller threatened to fatally shoot the Senate majority leader and “send some bullets your way.”
