A survey from Bumper found Ohio 27th out of all 50 states for teen driver fatalities in the summer months.
showed that Ohio ranked 27th in the U.S. for summer fatalities, with a three-year average of 156.3 teen driver fatalities in the summer.
Last year, Ohio saw an estimated 160 teen driving deaths at a rate of 3.37 deaths per 10,000 teen drivers, just under the national average rate of 4.85 per 10,000. The month of August was found to have been the deadliest month for teen drivers in both the summertime and overall. Nationally, Wyoming was found to have had the most teen fatalities in summer months, while Florida was shown to have had the fewest.
When it came to teen driving fatalities overall, however, Ohio ranked much lower at 38th out of all 50 states. For that statistic, New Mexico saw the most fatalities overall while Rhode Island saw the fewest.Speed was found to be the leading cause of teen driving fatalities, followed by alcohol and then distracted driving for second and third leading causes respectively.
