Starting strong safety Lathan Ransom is questionable to play against Western Kentucky while free safety Josh Proctor makes his return from injury against the Hilltoppers.
Ohio State could be without its starting boundary safety – or “bandit” – against pass-happy Western Kentucky Saturday.
Ransom played in 12 of Ohio State's 13 games in 2022 after usurping Josh Proctor at the bandit spot in Week 1 against Notre Dame. He finished third on the team with 74 tackles, adding 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception and three pass breakups. Should he not be able to go against Western Kentucky, his replacement is likely to come from elsewhere in the secondary, given that the team's safeties cross-train at multiple spots.
