For the first time, Ohioans interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents can now apply online, rather than having to submit paperwork, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Wednesday.

Gov. Mike DeWine speaks at a news conference on Thursday, May 24, 2023, announcing that Ohioans can apply to become an adoptive or foster parent via the Internet instead of having to fill out paper forms. Behind DeWine stands Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, foster parent Diamond Carter Enayzi, and Sarah Steuer, CEO of Columbus-based Youth Advocate Services. COLUMBUS, Ohio—

DeWine’s administration has now created a universal form that will be used by every agency in the state, Tierney said, allowing the forms to be offered online. “Our goal is that by making this more streamlined, we will be able to have more people complete the process after initially expressing interest,” said Damschroder, who added that officials tried to create “the TurboTax of foster and adoption licensing process.”
