Actor Nicholas Hoult reveals that he missed out on three major roles in a row in The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. Hoult started his acting career starring in Skins and Attack of the Titans before his breakthrough roles as Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road and as Beast in the X-Men film series. Most recently, he stared in The Great which will return for season 3, and his performance in the well-received film The Menu.
I screen-tested for ‘Batman’ and didn’t get i. Screen-tested for ‘Top Gun,’ didn’t get it. Then I got the call from Tom Cruise: ‘Hey, how about “Mission Impossible?”‘ Ok. Got it. Then I had to drop out because I was already attached to do some more of ‘The Great.’
