In one incident, shots were fired in Oakland at around 2:50 a.m. Passengers in two cars were involved in the shooting, and both cars left the area afterward.

One of the passengers was declared deceased after being hit by gunfire, and two passengers in another car were injured and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed for about an hour to document evidence, highway officials said. Police ask that anyone who has information on the incident call the CHP tipline at 917-4491.
