A person died in an apparent head-on multi-vehicle collision Thursday on a rural Alameda County road, authorities said.
Just after 12:50 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of the collision at Altamont Pass and Northfront roads, CHP Officer Marc Johnston said.
Officers provided emergency life-saving measures at the scene, with help from arriving Alameda County Fire Department firefighters, but a person was pronounced dead despite their efforts.
