Every creator winds up saying something controversial or in poor taste, and Eiichiro Oda is no exception, even if writing One Piece has made him the toast of Japan. Despite giving Shueisha one of its most valuable properties, Oda's comments for Volume 89's print copy gave the publisher quite a headache. As a result, both of them had to give a public apology for making light of Japan's history.
