One Piece subtly showed Sanji and Pudding's chemistry.

One Piece isn't known for having much romance, but its best love story shows how well the series can pull off a romantic subplot with one minor detail. This is a testament to how great of an author Eiichiro Oda is, even when writing genres completely outside his wheelhouse. It also gives fans reassurance that this love story will inevitably have a happy ending.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The romance in question is between Sanji and Pudding, Big Mom's daughter. Their pairing was originally an arranged marriage to ally the Big Mom Pirates and the Vinsmoke family, One Piece's version of the Power Rangers. In fact, Pudding initially was planning on betraying Sanji on the altar and killing him along with his family.

How One Piece Shows Sanji and Pudding Are Meant For Each Other While the end of Whole Cake Island Pudding had to remove Sanji's memories of their relationship, a subtle detail implies that their separation is only temporary. While Sanji has two eyes, he always covers one of them. Pudding also generally covers one of her eyes, since she views her third eye as an indication that she's abnormal.

This may seem like a bit of a stretch, but it wouldn't be the first time that Oda has encoded so much meaning in a minor or silly detail. For instance, Luffy's other brother, Sabo's, existence was foreshadowed years before his appearance by Ace's seemingly botched tattoo. Given this attention to detail, it's likely that Sanji and Pudding's total number of eyes is an intentional sign that the two are meant to end up together despite their relationship's current hiatus.

This detail should hopefully encourage fans who were disappointed with how Sanji and Pudding's relationship ended in Whole Cake Island. A lot can still happen before the end of the series, so Sanji and Pudding are almost guaranteed to reunite at some point. Even if the culmination of their romance isn't shown explicitly, this detail can reassure One Piece fans that Sanji and Pudding are fated to eventually meet up again and be a couple.
