Robbie Thompson, creator of The Winchesters, teases an upcoming episode that will explain the show's tie to Supernatural. Set about 10 years before the events of the original show, The Winchesters follows John Winchester and Mary Campbell as they search for their missing fathers, fight off demons and monsters, and slowly fall in love. The series is narrated by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles, playing Dean Winchester, who is also the executive producer on the spinoff show.
"We had a rule from very early on that we are not breaking anything from ‘Supernatural,’ I can tell you as a fan of the show that we did not want to upend anything that ‘Supernatural’ did — and I’m going to phrase this very specifically — past, present or future. That much I can promise viewers, and we won’t be coy about it for multiple seasons. It’s something that we will unpack in our 13th episode.
