The U.S. Drought Monitor reported that parts of South Central Texas have seen continuous drought for more than 680 days.
“It’s been tough between drought for two years,” Lewellyn said. “Most of the perimeter of this home is predominantly turf.”As one of the owners of Panache Landscaping & Design in Boerne, Lewellyn said extreme heat and ongoing drought made it an easy decision for him to prioritize drought-tolerant plants and artificial grass in his own yard.that parts of San Antonio and the Hill Country are experiencing extreme drought conditions.
“Water is more important for us to be able to take a shower and wash your clothes than it is to have 18 pallets of sod in your front yard,” Lewellyn said.“Our focus is primarily on knowing where we can obtain water if we need it,” Moreland said.
