Open Streets -- Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue! (sponsor)
will be on Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., SE for the first time — the first in a series of Open Streets events in 2022.
During the event, the District will close Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE, between Good Hope Rd. SE and Morris Rd. SE to cars. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the corridor will be open to residents and visitors to walk, bike, run, scooter, roller skate, hop, skip and enjoy the open streets.
“Especially over the past year and a half, we have seen residents and businesses work together to reimagine public space and Open Streets is one more opportunity to rethink how we use our streets and sidewalks,” said Mayor Bowser. “We have a beautiful city, we have a community that is excited for the opportunity to come back together and to support local businesses.”
Open Streets is presented by Mayor Muriel Bowser and the District Department of Transportation . Anacostia BID is the nonprofit partner supporting the planning and execution of the event.
