Opinion: Inflation is not the biggest thing this country should be worrying about [Opinion]
Re “Companies see profits soar with food prices” : Personal memo to the Federal Reserve — interest rate hikes aren’t working because inflation is being driven by corporations using it as cover to price-gouge the people.I don’t get it. I’m supposed to ignore attacks on our democracy, my wife and daughter’s rights, my right to vote and have it counted, on librarians and school boards, on anyone and anything they don’t happen to like.
If you believe any president, past or present, sets interest rates, you will be unable to correctly assign blame for problems with our economy. Interest rates are the purview of the Federal Reserve, not the administration. If you are happy with your IRA or 401, paying more for groceries and gas, then by all means vote your convictions. You wasted your last vote. Shame to do it again.Re “Behind the GOP surge” : It says here that “voters trust Republicans to do a better job handling the economy by 39 percent to 29 percent and that the economy is the No. 1 issue in the election.” I’m in the 29 percent.
