Opinion: Will a 32-hour workweek work for California businesses? [Opinion]
Seems to me companies should be planning on moving their operations to another state. What? A lot of them already have? Wow, what a surprise.A four-day workweek would cut down on fuel expenses and traffic for workers and keep costs down for employers. A 36-hour workweek for four days would be better for everyone. More hours equal more take-home pay for the employees and more work being done on the job.
A 32-hour workweek would cost employers. To get the same work done as in 40 hours, they might need more employees. Some places of work may not have room for more employees as it may take more equipment.To exempt unionized workers would not be fair. The labor code could be changed to 32 or 36 hours. After workers got used to 36 hours in four days instead of 40 hours in five days, they would adjust their lives.
