The CARE Court program signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom will propel people with severe mental health disorders into a treatment program that includes medication and housing.

Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher said the program was “better than nothing” but maintained it is a “new bureaucratic half-measure.”
