Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz rallied supporters in Elizabethtown, laying out a set of core topics that had little overlap with those of his rival, Democrat John Fetterman.

issues such as raising the minimum wage and expanding Medicare, as well as hammering Republicans on topics like abortion and the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Oz, a celebrity doctor and television host, also depicted himself during his Wednesday speech as a problem-solver who could work across the aisle, someone who would “stop the partisan bickering and deal with the problems you guys have been telling me about for the last year plus,” he said. The perception of Oz as more of a centrist was presented with an unusual case test due to Oz’s choice of venue for Wednesday’s event, which was held at the Stone Gables Estate – a popular wedding venue thatsame-sex couples, citing the religious beliefs of its owner, who is also a major financial backer of Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano.

“It’s a private property, anyone can do what they want to,” said rally-goer Ron Harper Jr., who described himself as more of a libertarian who didn’t think the government should be involved in marriages at all.
