The homicide attempt was connected to an ongoing dispute involving old relationships and infidelity, police said.

Becky Metrick | [email protected] Michael Sipes Jr. and Maria Nicole Frye are charged with the arson of a home in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue on Oct. 14, according to Altoona police.

Both Sipes and Frye were arrested on unrelated charges during the investigation, police said. Sipes was arrested after fleeing from police when he had eight outstanding warrants.
