Nick Martinez makes second start for Padres; Myers hopeful for Sunday return

The Padres will face right-handed starter Ian Anderson, who allowed five runs on five walks and three hits while going 2 2/3 innings in his first start Saturday against the Reds. Jorge Alfaro, who is not in the lineup, and Luke Voit are the only Padres players to have faced the 23-year-old Anderson. Alfaro is 1-for-2 with two walks against Anderson, and Voit is 1-for-3 with a home run.
Four Braves have faced Padres starter Nick Martinez, though the most recent of those matchups was in 2017. Martinez spent the past four seasons in Japan, remaking almost everything about his delivery, look of his pitches and pitch mix. The right-hander allowed a run on five hits and a walk and struck out six in five innings in his Padres debut Monday against the Giants.
