With a lineup full of projected starters, minus Juan Soto and Austin Nola, the Padres score seven runs over first two innings in a Cactus League romp over the Colorado Rockies

Batters’ box:

Four of the Padres’ first five batters reached base to start the game, with RF Fernando Tatis Jr. singling, 1B Jake Cronenworth doubling and SS Xander Bogaerts doubling with one out to open the scoring. 3B Manny Machado stuck out in that first inning, but he added a two-run single during the Padres’ four-run second. Bogaerts doubled twice, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. DH Matt Carpenter went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Cronenworth went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
