The team formed to lead downtown San Francisco’s recovery has been disbanded.
“It just became clear that we already were doing this work across the departments,” said Sarah Dennis-Phillips, whose appointment to the post was announced on May 31. Now that the document is done, “we’re just doing the work,” said Dennis-Phillips, who was the deputy director of development at OEWD until she left to join private real estate company Tishman Speyer in 2019. Even prior to Dennis-Phillips’ arrival at OEWD, “the work of recovery had leaked beyond” the regeneration team and bled into other departments, she said.the recent launch of The City’s “Vacant to Vibrant” program that aims to find pop-up uses for otherwise vacant storefronts downtown.
