AUSTIN, Texas — The road to success is different for everyone, but Melissa Ortiz feels confident she wouldn’t have been on the right path had it not been for nonprofitCon Mi MADRE was started in 1992 as a project of the Junior League of AustinThe nonprofit saw a need to shift its focus from academics to mental health after the pandemic which is yielding results“They took me to my first college visit,” Ortiz said.
Ortiz went on to graduate from Texas State University with two bachelor's degrees and later earned a master's of public administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. “My team's job is to go out and be a part of the community, make sure we are hearing about things our communities need and how CapMetro can best serve them,” Ortiz said.
