, 24, pleaded guilty Oct. 13, 2022, to possessing with intent to distribute meth and to carrying and discharging a gun during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas said in a news release.
Bryan was initially arrested May 4, 2022, during a traffic stop in the 14300 block of the Gulf Freeway near Astoria in front of an Exxon Gas Station. Two Houston police officers asked Bryan for his ID and registration. Bryan did not comply. The officers ordered him out of the vehicle. As one of the officers opened the car's door, Bryan reached into his waistband, pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot the officer, prosecutors said in October 2022.
"Thank god for his ballistic vest and flashlight," HPD Chief Troy Finner said at the time of the shooting."It probably saved his life." The involved officers were members of the department's Highway Interdiction Unit and both 10-year veterans at the time of the shooting.
