UPDATE: Denver police concluded the pedestrian died by suicide and that the engineer driving the train was not at fault
collision
along the A Line route that runs 23 miles from downtown Denver to Denver International Airport at about 11 a.m. forced a shutdown for more than four hours. It happened at a crossing between Smith Road and the North Monaco Street Parkway. “It appears that the man walked intentionally in front of the train,” Denver police spokesman Jay Casillas said. “This appears to be a noncriminal incident.”
RTD spokeswoman Marta Sipeki said warning gates along the train tracks were down. “The person would have had to go around the gates,” Sipeki said. “All the warning signs, the gates, everything was functioning,” she said.
