Demand for housing is far outpacing supply, which is surging prices here. The city needs to cut the red tape and facilitate more affordable housing.. But demand is outpacing supply, and pressure on buyers is leaving a lot of people locked out of the market.
During an interview at the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting this month, he said, “There’s no inventory. We have to build more homes in this country … I don’t know what we do to incent the builders to come on out and build more houses.” Furthermore, you can’t have an honest discussion about housing if you fail to talk about the quality of school districts, or inadequate multimodal transportation options, infrastructure or tax incentives.The most impactful thing my City Council colleagues and I can do is to get the heck out of the way. We need to aggressively reduce the cost imposed by outdated approaches to zoning, encourage infill where appropriate and stop imposing new impact fees .
