On a visit to the Armenian capital, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said the U.S. deplores recent attacks by Azerbaijan on Armenia, and called for a negotiated solution to the countries’ conflict.

A U.S. congressional delegation headed by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi landed in Armenia on Saturday, amid a cease-fire that has been held for three days. Earlier this week, an outburst of fighting with neighboring Azerbaijan killed more than 200 troops from both sides.
Pelsoi’s visit to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, with a congressional delegation came just a few days days after two days of shelling by both sides that killed more than 200 troops. It was the largest outbreak of hostilities in more than two years.
