A woman in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has died after contracting the first human case of West Nile virus reported in the area this year.
The woman lived in Pittsburgh and is the first human case reported in Allegheny County this year, according to the
ACHD officials said in this week's announcement that they are setting up additional traps, including in the neighborhood where the patient lived, and are targeting other areas with a mosquito pesticide.to humans and other animals when biting them, the federal health agency said. West Nile virus is not spread through coughing, sneezing, interpersonal contact, or eating infected animals, such as birds.
