Pepsi roasted for first-ever hot dog condiment: ‘Y’all need Jesus’
The sauce is meant to be the finishing touch on a hot dog, created with help from the Culinary Institute of America Consulting, a business unit of the school.
Starting with a Pepsi reduction, the topping is combined with ingredients including smoked tomatoes, a blend of spices — particularly cinnamon and oregano — plus onions and ketchup,The limited-edition product features the “sweet, citrusy taste” of the carbonated drink,“The distinctive flavors and vibrant citrus blend of Pepsi enhance the bright and tangy characteristics of ketchup, offsetting the smokiness of the hot dog,” said David Kamen, director of client experience for CIA Consulting.
Unfortunately, — or, for naysayers, perhaps fortunately — the sauce will be available for one day only on July 4 at a few baseball stadiums across the country, including at the Pepsi Lounge in Yankee Stadium.
