Pete Buttigieg responds to being called 'MayorCheat' after prematurely declaring Iowa caucus victory
, the Democratic presidential candidate said that it was not premature to call his campaign"victorious," as the hashtag"#MayorCheat" trended.
"We are absolutely victorious coming into New Hampshire. This is a campaign that when we launched a year ago, people said, 'You're not a senator. You're not a national name. What business does somebody from a mid-sized city in the middle of the country have running for president?' Said 'we shouldn't even be here.' And now, here we are, in the position that we are in, coming into New Hampshire for what we think will be another historic night, a week from today.
Monday night's delayed Iowa caucus results caused a stir among the Democratic presidential candidates, as that state's Democratic Party reported inconsistencies due to glitches in the app used to report results. Three different sources say a firm called"Shadow" developed the Iowa Dem caucus app. They haven't responded to comment, neither has Iowa Dem Party. The firm was paid by both Nevada & Iowa Democratic Party, disclosures show. Also by Mayor Pete's campaign.Buttigieg delivered a victory speech Monday night, despite no precincts reporting.
