The family of Gabby Petito filed a second amended complaint in a wrongful death lawsuit against the Moab City Police Department.

“The bond had been required that would have required the Petito family to essentially upwards of $200,000 just to move forward with the lawsuit,” said Stewart to 2News. “That bond was required because of a Utah statute that allows that in cases where there are lawsuits brought against individual law enforcement officers.”
Therefore, the order also granted claims against individual officers to be dismissed while maintaining those claims against their employer, the Moab City Police Department.
