A 5-year-old boy was shot and wounded on Monday morning in the Olney section of Philadelphia.According to police, the child's father was handling a gun when it went off.

The child was shot in the pelvis. He was taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children where he is in stable condition. Police say the father had been convicted of a firearms violation in November and had been sentenced to house arrest in March.An investigation continues into whether anyone will be charged.
