A plane flying out of Allentown’s Queen City Airport crashed onto the lawn of a Salisbury Township house, Wednesday killing one person and badly injuring another.
A spokesperson for the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed two people were on the plane. Kress said the person who died is believed to be a man, based on flight records. Colin Riccobon, spokesperson with the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, said the plane left Queen City, which the authority owns, sometime after noon. Riccobon did not have further information.Public records show that the owners of the property at 1480 Keystone Road are Mark T. and Deborah Lieberman, who could not be reached for comment. The area is heavily wooded and near the Little Lehigh Creek.
Andrew Kowalchick of Emmaus said he was birdwatching nearby. He was out later than usual because the morning was chilly. He was looking through his binoculars when he saw the plane go across the treetops and crash beyond his view. Kowalchick said he heard screaming and yelling immediately afterward.
