San Antonio police have identified the man they suspect fatally shot a 34-year-old woman outside a South Side taco truck and then eluded capture during an ensuing standoff last week.

Police are searching for 32-year-old Roland Contreras in connection with the death of Gabriele De Angel on April 6.Del Angel was a passenger in a Jeep parked outside a taco truck at the corner of Southwest Military Drive and Commercial Avenue. Police said Contreras was arguing with a man in the Jeep and fired a shot into the window, hitting Del Angel.
The man in the Jeep drove to a nearby gas station and called the police, but Del Angel was pronounced dead at the scene. Contreras fled, but police tracked him to a nearby home where they said he barricaded himself inside. An hours-long standoff ensued as police tried to convince Contreras to surrender peacefully. Throughout the morning on April 7, police tried several tactics to get Contreras out of the house, including firing nonlethal liquid irritants inside.
