Pope Francis is “progressively improving” after spending the night in the hospital where he was diagnosed with a respiratory infection, the Vatican said.
The pontiff, 86, “could be discharged in the coming days,” Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a statement, adding that he spent the afternoon at the Gemelli Hospital “devoting himself to rest, prayer and some work duties.”
