A possible filming start date for TheWitcher Season 3 has been revealed, with reports saying the hit Netflix series will begin production later this month, and filming will commence in March.
The filming start date for Netflix's The Witcher season 3 has reportedly been revealed. Based on the stories by Andrzej Sapkowski and propelled by the overwhelming popularity of CD Projekt RED’s video games, The Witcher premiered in December 2019. Season 2 had been in the works since before The Witcher season 1 even premiered and, after facing numerous delays, was finally released on Netflix on December 17, 2021.
The Witcher season 2 sees Geralt and Ciri travel to Kaer Morhen and meet Witchers led by Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir . Throughout the season, it’s revealed that Ciri has Elder blood, connecting her to an Elven prophecy foretelling the end of the world. Outside of that, The Witcher season 2 makes a lot of changes to its source material, including Eskel’s death, Yennefer's storyline, that White Flame reveal, Voleth Meir, and the introduction of the Wild Hunt.
While critical reception for The Witcher season 2 has been strong, the show’s audience rating on sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic has been much weaker than the season that preceded it. This is due in large part to fans of the books and games being upset with how far the series has strayed from its Witcher novels source material. At this point, avid readers and video game players are arguing The Witcher is less of an adaptation and more fan fiction.
The Witcher season 2 ends with its three main characters together at Kaer Morhen following a fairly close encounter with the Wild Hunt on another sphere. Season 3 will begin to adapt"Time of Contempt" and see Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri deal with the Brotherhood of Sorcerers, Nilfgaard, and the Elves, who all want Ciri for different purposes.
