A cold, fast-moving storm from British Columbia will generate winds gusting upwards of 70 mph in parts of San Diego County on Monday, kicking up dust that could make it hard for motorists to see on eastern Interstate 8, the National Weather Service said.
The winds will arrive early Monday afternoon and are expected to blow 60 to 70 mph along the section of I-8 roughly between Alpine and the border of San Diego and Imperial counties. There could be isolated gusts of up to 74 mph near the border, which is located in an exposed area of the desert.Forecasters also said the winds could affect county Route S1 — which is known as Sunrise Highway — because gusts are expected to reach as high as 79 mph on Mount Laguna.
