St. Benedict's Ransford Gyan is hoisted up in celebration after defeating Pennington 2-1 in the boys soccer NJSIAA Prep A Championship at Riverfront Park in Newark on 11/3/21.Thirty-two years after St. Benedict’s left the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association because the Catholic school in Newark was upset with how the governing body oversaw athletics, the NJSIAA has welcomed back the Gray Bees as a dues-paying member.
The school, which boasts powerhouse programs that compete at the national level in boys’ soccer and basketball, would join the North Jersey, Non-Public A section as a full member in good standing, according to the NJSIAA.
