Amid the baby formula shortage, President Biden is pressing the Federal Trade Commission to investigate reports of price gouging.

President Joe Biden on Thursday sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission imploring them to use their authority to monitor infant formula markets. Manufacturers typically produce the same type of formula in different sizes, according to a White House fact sheet.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is working with states to make it easier for families to purchase baby formula with Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children benefits. The White House noted that nearly 50 percent of all baby formula is purchased by WIC benefits.
