Earlier this week, Kate and Prince William made a surprise visit to staff and patients of the National Health Service for an event dubbed the NHS Big Tea party, hosted by NHS Charities Together, which the Prince and Princess of Wales have been royal patrons of since December 2020. The couple arrived ahead of the special occasion to help decorate the cake and set the tables, and later mingled with guests during the day.
“The Prince of Wales was very mindful of the support that’s been given by NHS charities and how essential that is, and really understood the issues and complexities—particularly with the current challenges we’re facing,” said Dr. Neil Rees, a consultant clinical psychologist at the event, in a statement. “The pandemic shone a light on the needs of staff, but he was keen to talk about how we maintain the care roles like mine provide, and how charities play a major role in that.
