District officials abruptly placed Princeton High School Principal Frank Chmiel on paid administrative leave two weeks ago.
The board voted to install Kathie Foster as Princeton High School’s interim principal through the end of the school year after hearing public comment from parents and community members, board president Dafna Kendal said.
An attorney for Chmiel did not respond to a request for comment. A spokeswoman for the district confirmed that Chmiel remains on leave. At Tuesday’s packed board meeting, parents and students spoke in favor of Chmiel and a few people held orange signs that read, “We want Chmiel.” “I am writing to set the record straight,” he said in a statement. “I am on administrative leave because I did not resign as fast as the school district wanted me to resign.”
