Trials is coming next season in Destiny 2, but what about PvE? It seems like Prison of Elders could come back too, to complete the House of Wolves refresh. Here's why.
at the end of this season once we finish up the Empyrean Foundation community event. It will be the marquee event of Season of the Worthy, I’m sure, and yet it should be different from past seasons because Trials will not be a seasonal event, but rather a permanent addition to the game .is coming in Season of the Worthy. Even if the season does end up being PvP-focused it stands to reason that there will befor PvE players to do.
One theory I’ve started to hear whispers about is the potential return of Prison of Elders as a PvE activity. After all, House of Wolves debuted both Trials and Prison of Elders at the same time, so it does make some amount of thematic sense for it to possibly return alongside it. And I think there are more hints and potential evidence about the fact that Prison of Elders could be Worthy’s seasonal activity.
Saint has history with the Fallen, as we’ve seen in his story quests this season . And if the theories are true and this season could be about the redemption of Uldren, he obviously has a lot of history with the Fallen, and quite literally the Prison of Elders itself, as it was the scene of his greatest crime during the events of Forsaken.Logistically, I think this could work as well.
How all this would link together, I’m not 100% sure yet. My dream scenario here would be some sort of Saint/Uldren storyline where Saint’s noble quest to redeem Uldren has us going back to the Prison of Elders as a fireteam to further clean it up and rectify the mistakes from his past life. And then once that’s done, maybe the prison re-opens and we put say, Spider in charge of it now .
The point is, with the return of Trials, the links between Saint, Uldren and the Fallen, and existence of the Prison in D2 already, I think all of this could combine to make PoE Worthy’s seasonal activity. I still hate the idea of something as cool as Prison of Elders coming back only to be removed three months later, but that’s a debate for another day.
