ByAndrew Watt, a music producer, called Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan—with whom he’d recently played Van Halen songs at a charity event—and invited them to his home studio in Beverly Hills to make an Ozzy Osbourne album. Over four days last fall, Mr. Watt said, they wrote and recorded most of “Ordinary Man,” Mr. Osbourne’s first solo album in 10 years, which comes out Friday.
