Experts say it's highly unlikely rainbow fentanyl will be given to trick-or-treaters, but teens and young adults should be cautious of unknowingly taking it at parties.

Drug policy and public health experts have pushed back to refute those worries — though they cautioned that rainbow fentanyl is a legitimate concern, especially for teenagers and young adults who are attending Halloween parties. “It is highly unlikely your normal Halloween candy will be contaminated with fentanyl,” said Joy Alonzo, a clinical assistant professor in the department of pharmacy practice at Texas A&M University.
