Classified as a periodic comet, Pons-Brooks follows a trajectory that brings it within proximity of the sun every 20 to 200 years, akin to the renowned Halley’s comet.as “cosmic snowballs” made of frozen gasses, rocks and dust, which, when heated by the sun, unleash a glowing display larger than most planets.Dallas will soon be one of the biggest gathering spots for tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of the total solar eclipse and that’s sending the price of rental cars to the moon.
For amateur stargazers, comets can provide a fleeting nighttime spectacle. For scientists, the space debris can unlock mysteries of how the universe was formed, said Veerabathina.The comet’s visibility during the April 8 eclipse remains uncertain due to its unpredictable nature. Veerabathina therefore suggests prioritizing the eclipse experience.“Enjoy that moment,” Veerabathina said.
“The expectation is that the comet is going to get brighter, but we never know. If we see it, that’s excellent, but don’t be disappointed if you don’t.”.
