.realestateband are “psyched on the power of music” in new single “The Main Thing”:
Singer, songwriter, guitarist and band cofounder Martin Courtney describes “The Main Thing”—the song—as “an inspirational anthem for anyone who’s ever been in an existential crisis,” explaining that the process of creating the album itself prompted and resolved his own.
“I was asking myself a lot of uncomfortable questions throughout the process of making this album. Wondering if being an artist is irresponsible or selfish, particularly with the world in the state that it’s in, particularly as a parent of young kids,” Courtney continues.
That realization is reflected in the track’s lyrics: “Despite the crushing weight / of all that’s on our plate / despite the true significance of / everything at stake / I will stay true / the main, main thing / it’s all I can do.” Real Estate are setting off on an international tour this spring, joined by Palm, Meg Baird and Itasca.’s archives and check out the band’s tour dates below.
