The upcoming LGBTQ+ romantic comedy from Amazon Studios sees the son of the US President, Alex Claremont-Diaz , and Britain's Prince Henry get into a heavily-publicized conflict during a royal wedding.

I was never asked to tone things down to get a PG-13 rating. I mean, when we got the R-rating, I think on the one hand, I was a little surprised, but I was also not surprised. I did question whether or not if it had been a straight couple we would still have gotten an R-rating. Why Is Red, White & Royal Blue Rated R? According to the MPA, Red, White & Royal Blue is rated R due to sexual content, partial nudity, and language used in the romantic comedy. López has also spoken about how it was important for sex to be part of the movie, as it underscores how Alex and Henry's relationship evolves over time. Depending on how explicit these scenes are presented, they may have warranted the movie getting an R-rating.
